American Mantle

American Mantle is an online publication for the renewal of Christian godliness and righteous power in America. Pietas et Imperium—For a New American Revolution.

We publish articles concerning faith and ethics, together with politics, history, philosophy, and current events. Our contributors are right-wing Protestant Christian Americans who write with insight, courage, and practical application.

Our name American Mantle describes our aim:

American

We are Americans by blood and soil. Our own forefathers conquered and cultivated our homeland, and through bold strategy and statesmanship secured the blessings of liberty to themselves and their posterity. We are their posterity, and we resolve to follow them, pledging our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor to see our people have those blessings yet again, and to use them for the glory of our fathers’ God and the good of our fellow countrymen.

Mantle

We take up a fourfold mantle: the prophetic, the philosophical, the political, and the domestic—each one essential to our legacy and labor.

The Prophetic Mantle

Our nation’s most urgent need is spiritual renewal, by repentance from our sin, faith in Jesus Christ, and a commitment that the Lord will be our nation’s God. To this end we need Elijahs to rebuke our Ahabs and our Jezebels, and to command us to forsake Baal’s prophets, and to serve the living God. We therefore welcome faithful gospel ministers, sound theologians, and other gifted Christian men to take up the prophetic mantle, to lift up their voice against our people’s sins, and for their everlasting good.

The Philosophical Mantle

Inseparable from spiritual renewal is a renaissance of solid learning. We honor Plato, Aristotle, and all philosophers that followed them, by proving their work, holding fast to what is good, and using their help to seek all that is just and pure and lovely. Though we are not an academic journal, we welcome Christians skilled in academic disciplines who wish to join us in writing for our people’s good.

The Political Mantle

American renewal is an idle dream without the exercise of power. Christian Americans must take the mantle of firm leadership, through zealous activism, wholesome propaganda, and the obtaining and the exercise of civil rule. We write for the promotion of the Christian Prince, the noble minister of God who bears the sword, punishing evildoers, praising the good, and serving as a nursing father to Christ’s church. We therefore also write against all tyrants who usurp this office, and who therefore ought to be resisted in obedience to God. We stand within the long tradition of Western political thought, from Aristotle and Augustine, to Aquinas and the American Founders, promoting ordered rule grounded in the laws of nature and of nature’s God.

The Domestic Mantle

We will not have a faithful Christian nation without faithful Christian families. We want our work to find a place at the domestic mantle, our articles read and discussed while sitting at the hearth, applied by parents to their own posterity, our nation’s future. We publicly promote strong, pure, and faithful marriages, encourage childbearing and sound education, and stridently oppose perversion and all lack of natural affection.
